About Ed

My name is Edward Lui, although I have always been called Ed by my friends. I first got involved in the photography industry in 2005, using my first digital SLR and adopting a documentary style of photojournalism. Having attended friends' weddings, I had noticed how a lot of the photography was based on formal group shots with the bride and groom, and their respective families. Whilst this is all great, the photographer often seemed to be missing the real story as it was unfolding around him. Details such as genuine emotion and laughter were not always being captured by the formal style.

With this in mind I have gone into wedding photography with a predominant approach of covering the wedding as the story unfolds from a third person perspective, and mixing this with fun shots of the bride and groom, and bridal party. I now shoot with Canon 5D full frame digital SLR's along with a range of L graded zooms and prime lenses in order to get the best possible results.

My other photography interests include music and fashion, and, being a drummer myself, I get involved with a lot of bands as well as solo artists. Constant networking and collaboration also allows me to work with both the finest up and coming and pro models; make-up artists; and hair stylists.

My work has been printed in a number of articles or published online by the likes of Chinatown Art Space, Time Out (China), Royal Opera House, The Orient Magazine, and The City Showcase. Past clients have included Deloitte LLP, and Volkswagen Financial Services (UK).
